GMC Acadia vs Buick Enclave

If you need a capable SUV with enough seating for you and six of your friends, you may be a big fan of models like the 2019 GMC Acadia and the Buick Enclave. Either would make for a great choice as you drive around Kingfisher, Dover, and Oklahoma City, but which is going to be your best fit?

To help you decide, the team at Jacksons of Kingfisher Chevrolet Buick GMC compared the 2019 GMC Acadia vs. Buick Enclave.

GMC ACADIA VS BUICK ENCLAVE POWERTRAIN

Drivers will be happy to hear that the Acadia and Enclave actually offer the same engine, and it delivers 310 horsepower. In the Acadia, this 3.6L V6 engine also generates 271 lb-ft of torque, while it produces 266 lb-ft of torque in the Enclave.

Despite sporting the same engine, pairing it with a 9-speed automatic transmission helps the Buick Enclave reach a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. The GMC Acadia is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and can pull 4,000 pounds. This makes the Enclave our pick if you have a heavy load to tow.

If you want a bit more versatility in your powertrain, however, you might like that the GMC Acadia also has a 2.5L I-4 engine. This engine puts out 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, and gets a maximum EPA-estimated city fuel economy of 21 MPG. The Enclave only has the single engine option and gets an EPA-estimated 18 MPG during city driving.

ACADIA VS ENCLAVE MEASUREMENTS

While both the Acadia and Buick Enclave can seat a total of seven passengers, the SUVs have slightly different body sizes.

The Enclave has plenty of space for all your luggage the next time you hit the road for a weekend getaway. It has a total cargo volume of 97.6 cubic feet and spans an overall length of 204.3 inches.

The Acadia, on the other hand, has a length of 193.6 inches. It also has 79 cubic feet of total volume. This more compact model may make it easier to park in the city or it may be more agile when going off-road.

SAFETY FEATURES FOR THE GMC ACADIA AND BUICK ENCLAVE

For many car shoppers, safety is a top concern when choosing their next SUV. The good news is that both the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave make this a priority by offering several available safety technology features that may help you be more aware of your surroundings.

For example, they both have available Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. This provides a visual warning if another vehicle is in your side blind spot. If you activate your turn signal to change lanes, it'll also provide an audible alert if traffic is approaching too quickly in your intended lane to allow you to merge safely.

Another useful feature is the Safety Alert Seat. Available in both models, this seat replaces audio and visual cues with tactile warnings. If there's a potential hazard to look out for, the Safety Alert Seat will vibrate in the direction of the hazard to get your attention.
